Leave it to Taylor Swift to flip Swifties worlds upside down on Grammy Night.

While receiving the award for Best Pop Vocal Album for “Midnights,” Taylor announced it was her 13th Grammy Award and shared a secret- she has a new album coming out April 19th called “The Tortured Poet’s Department.”

The album will have 16 tracks, and according to Taylor Swift’s official store, will feature a bonus track – “The Manuscript.”

Order a limited-edition version of the album as a CD now before it’s too late at TaylorSwift.com.

THEORIES

It wouldn’t be Taylor Swift news without a few theories and it hasn’t even been 24 hours yet.

Many believe this album is the real Joe Alwyn break-up album. Taylor mentioned in her speech that it’s a secret she has had for two years. We know that she wrote “You’re Losing Me” two years ago, so she and Joe were already having problems. Also, this may insinuate that they broke up before April of last year.

ALBUM TITLE

“The Tortured Poets Department”

According to any interview with Variety Magazine, Joe Alway mentioned that he was a part of a boys-only group called “The Tortured Man Club.” It’s too much of a coincidence, right? The text group album included Taylor’s close friend Phoebe Bridgers’ ex, Paul Mescal.

THE RELEASE DATE

There are several theories about the release date.

For one, April is National Poetry Month and the album is called “The Tortured Poets Department.”

Secondly, April 8, 2023, is the day that Taylor and Joe’s breakup went public. If you add the number of albums this would make Taylor have, 11, that is April 19th.

April 19, 2024 means there are 256 days left in the year: 2+5+6 = 13, her lucky number.

April 19th is also National Cat Lady Day. We all know Taylor is a cat lady.

Also, considering Joe is British, this one is interesting: on April 19, 1775, the 13 (!!) colonies severed their ties with England to start the American Revolution. Just like Taylor severed her ties with Joe. She mentions in the letter below her “coat of arms.”

THE LAST SONG ON “MIDNIGHTS”

The last song on Midnights is “Dear Reader” on the 3am Edition. What does that mean? Listen to the lyrics.

Burn all the files, desert all your past lives
And if you don’t recognize yourself
That means you did it right

Not only does “burn all the files” makes me think of burning down the Lover house during The Eras Tour, but Taylor’s graphic with a letter looks as if it’s from a file.

She ended “Midnights” with the a literature/English department vibe and her new album is called “The Tortured Poet’s Department.”

There are liable to be so many more theories in the coming days. Stay turned as we continue to dissect everything one piece at a time.
